MAHADEVAPURA SMALL HYDRO POWER PROJECT
Sierra constructions Pvt Ltd also bagged contract of civil construction work of 3 X 2 MW Mini Hydel Power Project of Soham Renewable Energy India Pvt Ltd at Mahadevapura, near Srirangapatna, Karnataka to be built across river Cauvery. Project cost is Rs 24.00 corers. Work started in January 2012. As on March 2014, of the tender work is complete.
This is a 6 MW “run of the river” commissioned project located on the Cauvery River, Mandya District, Karnataka. Mahadevpura is situated near the picturesque Cauvery river basin where the river passes through the sugarcane belt of Karnataka. This area has historical value with Ranganatha and Nimishamba temple and summer palace of Tipu Sultan. It is also a great picnic spot with nature scapes, forest scenes and adventurous events located nearby. The place is also named as Ranganathittu (the original place being located nearer to Srirangapatna) – Gende Hosalli Bird Sanctuary (one of the best in Karnataka).
